About

PhotoSync backs up the photos and videos on your phone directly to your own computer over your home Wi-Fi — no cable needed. Install the companion PhotoSync desktop app on your Mac and your phone can back up straight to it. You can also back up to your own Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive account — uploads go straight from your phone to your account, never through our servers.

How to use

• Open PhotoSync on your computer; it waits in the background for your phone.
• Open PhotoSync on your phone; it finds the computer on the same Wi-Fi automatically.
• Tap to start the backup, and your photos are saved to the computer, organized by year.

FAQ

My phone can't find the computer

• Make sure the phone and computer are on the same Wi-Fi (same local network).
• Make sure PhotoSync is running on the computer.
• Some routers enable "AP isolation / guest network isolation", which blocks devices from discovering each other — turn it off or use the main network.
• Disable any VPN or firewall that may block the local network, then try again.

Which devices are supported?

iPhone + Mac (with the companion PhotoSync desktop app installed). The phone and computer must be on the same Wi-Fi.

Transfers are slow

Prefer a 5GHz Wi-Fi network and keep the phone and computer close to the router. Large video transfers naturally take longer; if the connection drops, transfers resume automatically instead of starting over.

Are my photos safe?

When backing up to your computer, photos travel only between your phone and that computer over the local network — no server in between. If you choose cloud backup, photos are uploaded straight from your phone to your own Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive account; they never pass through our servers either. Where are the backed-up files stored?

In a folder you choose on your own computer, organized by year, fully under your control.
